How to Sanctify Items in Diablo 4

Sanctification is unlocked in Diablo 4 Items two phases, depending on your progression: pre-Torment and post-Torment.

1. Pre-Torment: Early Access via Heavenly Anvil

Before reaching Torment difficulty, Sanctification can only be accessed through the Heavenly Anvil, which appears after defeating a Lesser Evil during specific activities-most notably Helltide events.

Defeat a Lesser Evil
Gain one chance to use the HeaveAnvil.vil
If you decline, you must defeat another Lesser Evil to unlock. This early access is limited and intended as a preview of the system.

2. Post-Torment: Full Access Through Heavenly Sigils

Once you enter Torment difficulty, you gain reliable and repeatable access to Sanctification via Heavenly Sigils, a new seasonal currency.

Heavenly Sigils drop from:

Seasonal bosses (Astraroth, Belial, Bartok, etc.)
Seasonal endgame content
Seasonal event rewards

These Sigils allow you to sanctify gear as part of the regular crafting loop. Stockpiling Diablo 4 materials ahead of time can help streamline this process.

Potential Sanctification Buffs in Season 11

Sanctification pulls from a curated pool of powerful buffs, making it one of the most important gearing decisions in the season.

Possible buffs include:

1. Add a New Affix

This includes premium stats like:

+All Skills
Cooldown Reduction
Attack Speed
Resource generation
Damage reduction rolls

2. Add a Legendary Aspect

Even Uniques and Mythics can receive a bonus Aspect, creating hybrid gear with unprecedented power potential.

3. Affix Upgrade → Greater Affix

Upgrading an affix to a Greater Affix is among the most valuable rolls possible, often defining top-tier builds.

4. Replace an Existing Affix

5. Free Durability Removal
